Fundus auto fluorescence imaging and optical coherence tomography analysis in a patient with retinitis pigmentosa inversa

چکیده
We present a case of retinitis pigmentosa inversa in a 63-year-old female patient. Fundus examination revealed diffuse chorio retinal degeneration with bone-spicule pigmentary alterations in the posterior pole and mid-peripheral retina, whereas pigmentary alteration was not detected in the peripheral retina. Fundus auto fluorescence imaging demonstrated clearly defined hypo fluorescence was observed corresponding to the chorio retinal atrophy at the posterior pole in both eye. On optical coherence tomography, the photoreceptor line was undetectable in both eyes. Our findings may contribute to a better understanding of this rare condition.

Study of Patterns of Inheritance in Affected Patients with Retinitis Pigmentosa in Iranian Populations
Background and Aims: Retinitis pigmentosa (RP) is the most common form of inherited retinal degeneration, photoreceptors loss of which in the retina causes visual loss. The purpose of the present study was to determine patterns of inheritance in RP patients in Yazd to help the health professional for designing suitable laboratory testing for the high risk families. Materials and Methods: Thirt...
متن کاملFundus Autofluorescence Lifetime Patterns in Retinitis Pigmentosa.
Purpose We investigated whether fundus autofluorescence (FAF) lifetimes in patients with retinitis pigmentosa display a disease-specific lifetime pattern. Methods Fundus autofluorescence lifetime imaging ophthalmoscopy (FLIO) was performed in two spectral channels (498-560 and 560-720 nm) after excitation with a 473 nm pulsed laser in patients with retinitis pigmentosa and compared to healthy...
متن کاملAdaptive optics fundus images of cone photoreceptors in the macula of patients with retinitis pigmentosa
BACKGROUND The purpose of this study was to examine cone photoreceptors in the macula of patients with retinitis pigmentosa using an adaptive optics fundus camera and to investigate any correlations between cone photoreceptor density and findings on optical coherence tomography and fundus autofluorescence. METHODS We examined two patients with typical retinitis pigmentosa who underwent ophtha...
متن کاملBilateral cystoid macular edema following docetaxel chemotherapy in a patient with retinitis pigmentosa: a case report
BACKGROUND Docetaxel is a chemotherapeutic agent of the taxane class of drugs for the treatment of breast cancer. We present a female patient who noted decreased vision after docetaxel treatment. CASE PRESENTATION A 45-year-old female patient received docetaxel treatment after resection of a breast carcinoma. Funduscopy and optical coherence tomography (OCT) showed cystoid macular edema on bo...
متن کاملA tapetal-like fundus reflex in a healthy male: evidence against a role in the pathophysiology of retinal degeneration?
PURPOSE To report on the retinal function and structure in a 37-year-old male who presented with a tapetal-like reflex (TLR) indistinguishable from that seen in female carriers of X-linked retinitis pigmentosa (XLRP). METHODS Clinical examination included dark adaptometry, full-field electroretinography (ERG), multifocal ERG, optical coherence tomography, and fundus autofluorescence photograp...
